You woke up from a long restless sleep. As you tried to get back to sleep however, your uncle started calling you.

" _____! Get yer lazy ass up to the kitchen! It's breakfast time soon!"

You groaned as you reluctantly got out of your bed. You loved your uncle, but he was one to wake you up at the crack of dawn no matter what.

As usual you brushed your (h/c) hair. Then with a wet cloth, you wiped your (e/c) eyes filled with blue speckles. You received this unnatural trait from your father. Putting on a beige dress that wasn't too fancy for a day of chores and a locked locket given by your mother, you walked to the kitchen.

Stepping into the kitchen, you found your uncle frying eggs. 'Wait, that's not good.' And a second later, the eggs caught on fire.

"UNCLE!!! 'Cough' PUT OUT THE FIRE! 'Cough' 'Cough' " You yelled
as the smoke filled the room. "_____, DO THE 'Cough' WATER SPELL AND 'Cough' HURRY!" Your uncle responded from across the table. You quickly recited the spell and a rain cloud appeared above the stove. Droplets fell down on the flames, bringing the kitchen more smoke.

"And this is why you're not supposed to cook, my dear uncle." You mentioned to him as you wiped the sweat off your forehead.

"Well sorry for trying to be helpful in the morning _____." He grumbled as he sat at one of the four chairs near the table. You smiled at how similar he was to one of your close friends.

"Jam and bread?" You asked him as you pulled the two ingredients out of the cupboard.

"Sure." He spoke back as you also pulled out a butter knife and made two jammed sandwiches and set them on the table. You both ate in peace. He then said he had to get back to his job at the trade post and left.

You sighed as you put away the plates to wash later. Looking to your left on a window sill, you stared at the old painting of your parents. You had no familiar memories with them, but you knew the cared for you deeply when you were young. The couple died of a forest fire when you were six, so your uncle took you in. Throughout the years, your uncle taught you to read, write, manners, all the stuff a usual middle class family should know. Since you were a quick learner, you had lots of free time to be with your aging, carefree uncle. You were very happy living with him, but sometimes you wondered how different you would be if your parents were still alive. You shook the thought out of your head as you went in your room and picked up a leather magic journal. You held the book to your chest as you remembered when you first got it.

Your father was very good in magic, your uncle told you before on your tenth birthday, and wanted to give you this journal so you could learn magic. I think you are old to take care of it, so it's yours now. Take care of it and use it wisely.

And everyday from that day on you worked hard to learn all the magic spells in your spare times between lessons. Now you were at a very high level for someone your age. You could do spells professional wizards had difficulty with.

Today you decided to practice magic for half an hour. After reviewing the last of the curses, you started your chores for the day.

~Six hours later~

After your last task of going to the general store to buy food for the week was over, you decided to go to where your two close friends, Arthur and Alfred, lived.
You went to their cottage and knocked on the door. Their father opened the door and when he saw you, he flashed a smile.

"Hello _____, you can come in. The boys are in the kitchen with their mother baking pies. I have leave for some important business so I'll see you later." He said quickly as he ushered you inside and left.

There on the nearby table was a small painting given from your parents, old from the many years it existed. They treasured the painting very much because the two couples were very close when they moved into the village. They were devastated when your parents died. For the following years, he couple then treated you like a daughter soon. That's how you became best friends with the older hot-tempered brother, Arthur, and the younger overly energetic brother, Alfred.

After looking at the painting one more time, you went into the kitchen. Though when you took one step in there, all hell broke loose. They were already done making the pies, so Arthur started to make scones. The scones somehow caught on fire and smoke started filling the room. While Alfred was panicking (or what he called heroic gestures), their mother yelled at you from across the room to help get rid of the fire. After both you and Arthur recited the water spells, you helped clean up the stove with a feeling of major deja vu. Afterwards everyone sat down to eat the pies.

"Thank you for helping clear the fire and mess _____." Their mother told you after eating your third piece of pie.

"It's nothing." You said as you sank down the chair, happily full.

"Hey _____, wanna go to the lake nearby with me and Arthur?" Alfred spoke up after eating his tenth slice.

"Sure, but is it okay with Arthur?"

"Its fine with me as long as he doesn't get push me in the lake again" Arthur grumbled, taking a last sip of his tea before setting it down in annoyance.

"Hey! That was an accident. I was running from a raccoon and you happened to be there!" Alfred protested.

"Yeah right you bloody git! I saw you laughing when I fell in!"

He rolled his eyes. "That's because it was FUNNY. Something YOU could never understand."

"Oh well I know it's going to be absolutely HYSTERICAL when I push YOU in".

"Just try!"

And soon after you're watching the two brothers running out the door. You thanked their mother first before you ran after the two brothers.

Shortly after you got to the lake you discovered an Alfred on the ground and a mad, wet Arthur with a fish on his head in the lake. You were trying to hold in your laughs as much as the fish on Arthur's head was trying to eat his caterpillar eyebrows.

"How'd you get like that Arthur? I thought you were going to get Alfred wet, not yourself." You asked between giggling fits when you plucked the fish off his eyebrows.

"I was about to push him in but he ducked out of the way at the last second, making me fall in. The chipmunk laughed so much he fainted." Arthur responded with a pout on his face.

"Well I think he'll be fine. We should get you dry first then I'll help you get back at him." You said as you helped him out of the lake. Reaching into your pocket, you found your blue handkerchief given to you by your uncle. Handing over the fabric to Arthur, he started to wipe his face and arms until the handkerchief was soaked.

"Thanks _____. I'll give it back when I wash it later." He said as he got up and walked to the forest nearby. In the back of your head though, a very faint voice called out that you couldn't understand. After deciding to ignore it, you met up with Arthur, who was smiling mischievously.

Oh, this is going to be very entertaining indeed. You thought with a smile.

"I can't believe turned me into a girl and brought me in the middle of the plowing fields too! I'll never hear the end of it from the guys!" Alfred complained as he took out the last of the flowers from his hair. You giggled as the image of the farmers flirting with a confused Alfred replayed in your head.

"Well you deserved it Alfred." Arthur said with a satisfied grin as the three of you walked back to their cottage.

"Just watch your back Arthur! The hero will bring justice to this crime!" Alfred exclaimed, already back to his regular self.

Arthur scoffed. "Oh please."

When the three of you got to their house, you all turned silent. The front door was opened and the flower bed was in a wreck of different footprints. The three of you quietly slipped the through the front door when you heard the intruders leave. When all of you looked inside, you discovered everything was in a bigger mess than outside. The door was broken and the floor was heavily scratched. Even the beloved painting didn't escape the destruction, containing a rip from corner to corner. Walking into the kitchen, you discovered the chairs and the table were up in a heap. Suddenly your eye caught notice of a piece of paper, covered in a red substance. 'Oh god. Please tell me that writing isn't who I think it is.' You thought as you examined the note.

"_____, what do you have in your hand?" Arthur warily asked as he looked over your figure. You motioned to him to come over, but he froze once he saw what you were holding.

"Is that..." He said shakily. You hesitated before you decided to tell him the news like ripping off a bandage; quickly but painfully.

"I know Arthur. It's your mother's handwriting. Do you want me to read it out?" You asked the  paralysed older brother. He hesitated before he finally nodded.

You began reading the note. "To the children. You must leave the village as soon as possible. Travel to the kingdom immediately and go to the //////  //////. The men there will explain the situation. Quickly! Don't let them get to _____ or else it'll be too late."

As soon as you finished reading the bloody note, both you and Arthur were left speechless.

What in the world happened? You thought with the upmost concern and worry. Suddenly you were jolted back to reality as soon as Arthur spoke up.

"What the bloody hell? What's happening? Where are my parents? What are those missing words? God, how are you involved in this _____? You are the most innocent, law wise, person I know." He questioned you, getting more confused every second.

"Calm down Arthur, freaking out won't help anything. Even though I really don't have answers to those questions, I do know is that we have to leave the village as soon as possible. Let's grab Alfred and leave as quickly as possible. First we need to make sure my uncle's safe." You said calmly, even though you were very shaken about your situation.

"Yeah, you're right. Let's just grab that git quickly and leave."

After explaining the situation to Alfred (whose face was pain stricken the whole time), Arthur and Alfred packed food, water, and clothing for the trip as fast they could. Then the three of you went on to your uncle's farm as fast as the three of you could muster.

~20 minutes later~

"Uncle! Uncle! Are you in here?" You called out, still trying to catch your breath. Arthur went into the kitchen while Alfred searched the back entrance.

"_____, get over here!" Alfred yelled. You rushed over to where a shaking Alfred was.

"What's wrong Alfred? What happened?" You asked, scared for any bad news.

"Another note. This time it's from your uncle. Just pay attention," A serious Alfred said as he looked at the note. "To my dear _____, you must of got the note from your friends' parents and rushed over here. I'll meet up with you again. I'm telling you this now: You are in terrible danger. You need to hurry to the kingdom. Keep your wits up and watch who you trust. Find allies to help you locate the forgotten ite-" Suddenly the door was broken and a black shadow grabbed Alfred. As you jumped back, you found yourself staring as Alfred started to be pulled away.

"You'll need this, so catch!" He yelled as he threw you the note and his glasses. "Now hurry and get out of here!"

"Alfred!" You screamed as he was struggling against the shadowed perpetrator. Your scream quickly alerted Arthur, but as soon as he got to the back entrance, you were overpowered by another foe while Alfred was carried away on horseback.

"_____!" He yelled as you were falling limp. With quick thinking, he recited a fire spell that made the foe burn to the ground.

Exhausted, you fell to the floor. The last thing you saw before you lost consciousness were frightened emerald green eyes.
