"I would like to introduce a late transfer student from England." Your teacher announced as she smacked the ruler on the nearby desk to get the classes attention. "Since he's come into this school a bit late, please treat him with any respect you actually have left."

As the door opened, you could hear various oohs and ahhs spread around the room. Who walked into the room was a male student with an interesting combination of blonde messy hair, emerald eyes, and large eyebrows. His face was filled with indifference.

"You can sit in that seat in the corner, Mr. Kirkland." Your teacher said as she pointed toward your direction. There was a silence.

"But that's-" A classmate began to say until she cut him off. As usual, you never got to hear the rest of it.

"It is fine. Please sit there, Mr. Kirkland." She said as the transfer student walked down the aisle towards your desk. You sighed as you floated up to avoid him sitting on you, even though you wouldn't feel a difference if he did. Guiding your transparent body over to the windows next to the desk, you decided to watch the rest of class from there.

"Now with that settled, let's get started with our first lesson. In the year 1775, the Revolutionary War was just beginning. The colonists were now fighting for independence from England, who was being ruled by..." You heard her trail off until you started losing interest. You looked to your side to see that the transfer student (Arthur, was it?)  started to look away from her towards your general direction of the windows.

As the minutes passed by, it was starting to get on your nerves. Sure it was normal to look out the window when you were bored, but it seemed like he was looking directly at you. When the lunch bell rang, you heard the steps of the others leave towards the lunch room. Except the transfer student himself.

"Hello." You heard him say, making you confused. No one else was there.

"Hello?" He said again. Slowly, you pointed to yourself. He gave a nod, making you widen your eyes in surprise.

"You can see me?" You asked with surprise.

"As clear as day." He responded. "Well, not exactly. You're a bit transparent, but still seeable."

"But how? No one here can see me."

He shrugged his shoulders. "It's a special ability, I suppose. But it's confusing to myself right now since I should only be able to see magical beings. You're obviously not one."

...Say what now?

"Magical beings? Like fairies and elves?" You asked, getting a nod in response.

"Of course. What the bloody hell would I be talking about?" He said plainly as if it was completely obvious.

You shook your head. "Oh, nothing. I just thought that you would know why I'm like this." You said, seeing a concerned look on his face as he heard your disappointment.

"Do you remember anything before you became like that?" He asked, making you sigh.

"Not really, I just woke up here one day with no memories of any sort." You explained.

He looked at you questionably. "Hm, that is quite abnormal."

"Then do you think you could help me?" You said, your eyes filled with hope. His cheeks tinted light pink for a second, then he gave a loud sigh.

"Alright then. I'll try to find out how you got like that." He responded, making you brighten up.

Maybe you'll finally get to know what happened to you.

~~~Six Weeks Later~~~
"Anything today, Arthur?" You asked him as he plopped down on his seat with his packed lunch. He gave a sigh.
"I apologize love, nothing today either. I think that your classmates know something about it though." He said, his mind in thought. "If only they would tell me."
"Why won't they?" You asked him, resulting in a grunt.
"I have no idea. I'll just try asking again later." He said. You were starting to feel bad about how far he was going to help you.
"Sorry about all this..." You started to apologize.
"Oh it's fine dear, so don't worry about it." He said as he took out his lunch. Good thing you didn't have to eat since his food was considered deadly after a classmate took a bite of his homemade sandwich and ended up with food poisoning. "There's no one better to help you than myself."
"Of course, thank you." You smiled, making him turn his head away. For some reason, that was happening often
"Mr. Kirkland, would you come here for a second?" You heard your teacher say to him from the hallway. "I need to tell you something."
Getting up from both of your spots, the two of you went into the hallway where your teacher was standing. She closed the door behind you.
"I understand you have been asking around for a certain female student, Mr. Kirkland." She began to say. "You seem quite set on figuring out who she is."
"Yes ma'am. Would you know what has happened to her?" You heard Arthur ask, a determined look on his face. You too, were quite curious.
"I do know, but why should I tell someone completely unrelated to her?" She said strictly, her gaze unbroken. You turned to Arthur, only to be surprised that his persistency was still on his face.
"We are not complete strangers." He said, making you confused. You knew neither of you met before this incident, so what was he going to say?
"Then what are you to her?" She asked him. His cheeks turned pink as he looked to the ground. He was speechless.
"Yes? If you won't say, then I ask you to stop-"
"-love..."
"Hm? What is it?"
"I'm in love with her, dammit!" He said as loud as he could from embarassement. A red blush covered your face as you looked at him, and in a way you were happy.
A silence filled the hallway as your teacher looked at him with disbelief. Meanwhile, Arthur was still looking at the ground and trying to hide his face, which was blushing furiously. After a while, she sighed and out of character, smiled sadly.
"Well then, that's a valid reason for you to know." She began to say as he raised his head. "Fine, I'll excuse your language for right now and tell you what happened to her."
By now, the two of you were listening intently.
"It all happened when it was her parents' anniversary." She explained as you were starting to get a headache. "Apparently, her parents were completely drunk after going out for dinner. And for some god damn reason, pardon my language, they let their daughter drive through the terrible storm that was occuring. She couldn't control the car and they drove into a ditch. They were all apparently fine, until a large truck came that way and fell into that exact ditch. It instantly killed her parents."
"A-and her?" Arthur asked hesitantly.
"Don't worry, she survived. But now she's in a coma, and hasn't come out of it for a year." She said, giving a loud sigh. "And that's it. If you want, I'll tell you where she is if you want."
He nodded. "Yes, if you could."
Bringing out a notepad, your teacher wrote down an address on the sheet of paper and handed it to him. "And I know you want to go right now, so I'll excuse it only for this time since you've been hidden from it for a while now."
The two of you smiled at her. As soon as she gave him the okay, the two of you started going towards the hospital. It was only in the taxi did the two of you remember what he said before.
"Hey, about what I said before..." He began to say until you interrupted him.
"I know it was just to get the information, right? Don't worry, I won't take it seriously." You said to him, hoping to make the atmosphere less awkward for both you and him. You immediately regretted saying that, as it had the exact opposite effect.
"...Of course. I was just wanting to help you, that's all. Good thing you understood." He responded, a hurt expression on his face.
The ride was then filled with silence, the only voice heard from him was when he was paying the taxi driver and he was asking for your room number. As the two of you walked down the white halls, the previous headache from before came back, only ten times harder.
As you got to your room, the headaches were now infuriating. You just couldn't handle it anymore and when you got inside, you collapsed onto the ground. Your vision was black, and the last thing you heard was the sound of a long beep.
~~~

"Mom! Dad! Why did you guys drink so much?"

"It's because today is the day mommy and daddy got married, sweetheart~ It was the day we commemorated our love for each other."

"And when you find a hubby like daddy, you'll understand~"

"Ew, I will seriously leave you guys here."

"I'm sorry honey, will you drive us home please?"

"You guys know I'm not that good at driving in this kind of bad weather."

"You're a big girl, aren't you?"

"Yes, I am. But-"

"Please dear, you are the only one we trust to drive us home."

"...Fine."

--

"See, you're doing way gooder than we could right now."

"Gooder is not a word, Mom."

"It is in our dictionary, cutie pie."

"Mmhm, sure."

"Hey, look at that!"

"Yes? What is it mom?"

"It's a deer!"

"Hm? Wait, a deer?!"

--

"You all alright?! Mom?!"

"I'm fine, just really woozy."

"Dad?!"

"Daddy's okay too."

"Good, now we have to figure out how to get out of this ditch."

"Can we call anyone?"

"Let me check...ugh, we can't dad! No service in this blasted storm!"

"How about we ask that truck driver if he can help us?"

"What truck driver, mom?"

"See it? It's the one with the bright light that's going really fast."

"Wait a minute...that truck's not stopping and it's headed our way! Come on, we have to get out!"

"......Sweetie, mommy and daddy are stuck here."

"W-What are you talking about, mom?"

"We are on flipped on our side, and a huge tree is blocking our only exit. We can't get out."

"What?! Wait a minute, maybe the two of you can climb to the front and-"

"No use, honey. It's crushed the middle."

"Only you can get out now dear."

"Wait, there has got to be some way-"

"Please get out now. You are the only one who can."

"Daddy and I will stay here together. Okay?"

"But-"

"We love you so much. Now please, go."

"It'll only be goodbye for now."

~~~
"Wake up! Please, wake up!" You heard a voice call as you opened your eyes. You could see a familiar face in front of you, eyes stained with tears. When he saw you were awake, he embraced you in a long, tight hug. "God dammit, don't you dare do that again! The beeps and you disappearing and-"
"I remembered everything, Arthur. It was scary, but I remembered." You said to him, telling exactly what happened in your recollections after he calmed down.
"My god," He said, "Having to have gone through all that alone, and then not knowing about it for so long..."
"I couldn't do it without you, though." You responded as you looked into his green eyes. "And hopefully, you can help me get through this."
"Of course I will! Because I..um..eh.." He stuttered, making you look down with disappointment. When he saw that, he lifted your face and kissed your lips. "Because...I love you. I will never let you go through anything like this alone. Ever."
You smiled and returned the kiss. "Good."
~~~

"Arthur?"

"Yes, love?"

"Thank you."
